*Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced that Swiss multinational food and drink conglomerate Nestlé will invest US$1bn in Mexico over the next three years. In a video posted on social media platform X, Sheinbaum, flanked by top Nestlé executives and Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard, celebrated the “very important alliance” between Mexico and the corporation – a relationship of “94 years”. Sheinbaum said that the investment would see Nestlé scale up production of “various products” across different plants located throughout Mexico. Nestlé’s CEO in Mexico, Fausto Costa, added that the investment was a sign of the company’s confidence in Sheinbaum’s government and the opportunities that exist in the country. The government stated that the investment formed part of Sheinbaum’s ‘Plan México’, an economic plan unveiled on 13 January that seeks to attract investment and boost national and regional trade.
