*The Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), the logistics arm of Brazil’s agrarian development ministry, has released its annual figures for meat production in 2024, showing a record 31.58m tonnes (t) of beef, pork, and poultry produced last year. This marks an increase from 29.75m t in 2023. Conab forecasts annual production in 2025 to drop slightly to 31.56m t. Last year pork production totalled 5.36m t, up from 5.30m t in 2023, and is expected to rise to 5.53m t this year. Pork exports totalled a record 1.32m t, with significant annual increases in exports to Japan (+131%), the Philippines (+100%), Mexico (+51%), Chile (+29%), and Singapore (+23%). Total poultry production last year came to 15.31m t and exports totalled 5.16m t. This production figure is up from 14.94m t in 2023, and is expected to rise to 15.66m t in 2025. Poultry exports to Brazil’s largest trade partner, China, decreased by 18% from 682,000 t in 2023 to 561,000 t last year. The production and export figures for beef also rose in 2024, registering 10.91m t produced and 3.78m t exported, up from 9.52m t and 3.03m t in 2023.
