In brief: Costa Rica’s exports up

*Costa Rica’s official export promotion agency Procomer has released new figures showing that Costa Rica’s goods exports totalled US$19.89bn in 2024, up 9% on 2023. According to the Procomer report, the country’s leading export sector remains medical devices, which accounted for 44% of total goods exports and registered 14% growth last year. This is followed by agriculture, which accounted for 18% of total goods exports (+7% on 2023), with pineapples accounting for 7% of total goods exports followed by bananas (6%), syrups and concentrates for fizzy drinks (4%), coffee (2%) and electrical cables (1%), among others. The same report includes figures for the first three quarters of 2024 for exports of services which were worth US$12.19bn, up 12% on the same period in 2023. According to Procomer, business services accounted for 41% of services exports, followed by travel (35%).
