In brief: Mexico’s Immex programme posts fall in employment

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that a total of 3.25m people were employed in companies registered with the government’s manufacturing, maquiladora, and export services industry programme (Immex), down 0.2% in November 2024 compared with the previous month. In year-on-year terms, the number of people employed in firms registered with the programme was down 1.6%. In November 2024 there were 6,500 establishments registered with the Immex programme, of which 5,200 carried out manufacturing activities, and the remainder, non-manufacturing activities (those related to agriculture, fishing, trade, and services).
