In brief: International tourism grows in Mexico

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest figures on tourism, revealing that 7.6m people visited the country in November 2024, a 20.3% increase compared with the same month in 2023. Among these visitors, 3.9m were international tourists, marking a 13.2% rise from November 2023. Overall visitor spending saw an 11.0% increase year-on-year, reaching US$2.75bn, while international tourist spending totalled US$2.5bn – a 9.8% increase year-on-year. Mexico ranked as the sixth most-visited country globally between 2022 and 2023, according to the United Nations (UN)’s World Tourism Organisation (WTO).
