In brief: Analysts revise down Argentina inflation forecast

*Argentina’s central bank (BCRA) has reported that in its latest (December 2024) survey of market expectations (REM), private analysts lowered their monthly inflation forecast for December 2024 to 2.7%, down 0.2 percentage points on its previous monthly survey. This brings the predicted year-on-year rate for December to 117.8%, down one percentage point on the previous survey. Argentina’s annual inflation rate was running at 166% in November, down from 193% in October. In monthly terms, inflation stood at 2.4%, down from 2.7% the previous month. In the REM, analysts forecast Argentina’s GDP growth will contract 2.6% in 2024, 0.4 percentage points less than the fall projected in the previous REM. For 2025, analysts are forecasting GDP growth of 4.5%, up 0.3 percentage points on the previous REM survey.
