The looming first round of Ecuador’s general election in February is causing tensions to rise between President Daniel Noboa and the national assembly. Whilst Noboa has generally enjoyed reasonable levels of support from legislators on issues related to organised crime, that is now changing as parties draw their battle lines ahead of the election.
