COLOMBIA: Time running out for ELN peace talks
It has now been two years since peace talks were formally launched in November 2022 between President Gustavo Petro’s government and the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) guerrilla group. In that time, negotiations have veered from crisis to crisis, and it is doubtful that the remaining 20 months of Petro’s term will provide enough time to forge an agreement on the ELN’s demobilisation.
