*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its mid-month consumer price index (Ipca-15) for November, showing a monthly inflation rate of 0.62%. This marks an acceleration from 0.54% in mid-October and 0.33% in mid-November last year. The annual rate for the 12 months until mid-November 2024 stood at 4.77%, up from 4.47% in mid-October. Of the nine categories of products and services measured for the Ipca-15, eight registered monthly rises in prices. The only category to register a very slight monthly deflation was education (-0.01%). The category that registered the highest monthly inflation was food and drinks (+1.34%), up from 0.87% inflation in October. Within this category, items that registered significant monthly price increases were soya oil (+8.38%), tomatoes (+8.15%), and meat (+7.54%).
