MEXICO: Harfuch takes on super-minister role
New legislation aims to widen the powers of Omar García Harfuch, who will become a de facto super minister at the head of the security and citizen protection department (SSPC). Harfuch worked closely and successfully with President Claudia Sheinbaum when she was head of the Mexico City (CDMX) government, and he served as her security chief (2018-2023). Can the two of them apply the CDMX formula to the country as a whole?
