URUGUAY: Opposition FA leads in tight race

The left-wing coalition Frente Amplio (FA) is in pole position to return to power in Uruguay after a five-year hiatus next March. The FA’s Yamandú Orsi has been consistently out front in the polls all year and holds the lead going in to the second round of presidential elections on 24 November against Álvaro Delgado of the ruling multi-colour centre-right coalition. It is a slender lead, however, and with many voters still undecided, it would not take much for Delgado to pip Orsi.
