In brief: Chile’s growth picks up in Q3

*Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released its latest figures on GDP growth, showing that economic activity grew 0.7% in the third quarter of 2024 with respect to the previous quarter. This follows a quarterly contraction of 0.6% in Q2. Year-on-year growth in Q3 was 2.3%, driven by personal services (+7.1%), mining (+5.1%), transport (+6.7%), manufacturing (+3.2%), and trade (3.5%). However, the agriculture-forestry sector was down 8.5% in annual terms. The Q3 figure compares with 1.6% year-on-year growth in Q2.
