In brief: Argentina’s state airline reaches agreement with unions

*Argentina’s state-run airline Aerolíneas Argentinas has reached an agreement with unions, bringing to an end strike action that has disrupted the sector in recent months. The agreement, which was widely circulated in the local press, included a 16% salary hike for workers associated with the pilots’ union (Apla), cabin crew union (AAA), and aviation union (APA). The airline also reached new agreements with the association of aeronautical technical staff (Apta) and the union of senior aviation staff (Upsa). Tensions between the aviation sector and the government led by President Javier Milei have run high in recent weeks, with the government pushing for deregulation of the sector.
