ARGENTINA: Cristina Fernández poised to secure PJ presidency
On 1 November an Argentine judge rejected an appeal by the governor of the north-western province of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, against a decision by the electoral council of the opposition Partido Justicialista (PJ, Peronist) to bar him from participating in internal elections, paving the way for the coronation of former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) as the undisputed party leader.
