*The provincial government of Catamarca in Argentina has announced that Galan Lithium, an Australian mining company, will invest US$200m in its Hombre Muerto Oeste lithium project in the Puna region of Catamarca. The investment will be made through the incentive regime for large investments (Rigi), a scheme introduced by the administration of President Javier Milei to attract investment in Argentina. The Hombre Muerto Oeste lithium project aims to produce lithium chloride from the Hombre Muerto basin. Catamarca Governor Raúl Jalil welcomed the investment, saying that "this new investment means more work for the people of Catamarca, more contracting of services for suppliers and, above all, more development for our province thanks to mining." According to Jalil, the investment will go towards expanding facilities, hiring personnel and bidding for the main service contracts.
