NETHERLANDS ANTILLES: Curaí§ao votes for autonomous status

The Netherlands Antilles might soon cease to exist. Curaçao, the largest of the five islands that make up the Netherlands Antilles, voted on 8 April for autonomous status (status aparte) meaning they no longer want to be part of the Antilles, nor do they want full independence from the Netherlands. This is the same status that was awarded to Aruba when it broke away in 1986.
