In brief: Brazil’s job creation rises in August

*Brazil’s labour ministry has released the latest figures from its national employment registry (Novo Caged), which shows a net 232,513 new jobs created in August. This was up from 190,619 new jobs in July, and up from 219,669 new jobs in August 2023. A total of 2.23m new hires were registered in August this year, versus 1.99m dismissals. The sectors which saw the greatest net job creation were services (+118,364), industry (+51,634), and commerce (+47,761).
