Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador visited the municipality of La Concordia in the southern state of Chiapas on 2 August. La Concordia, like many other areas of Chiapas – particularly those close to the border with Guatemala – has seen a surge in high-profile violent incidents in recent months.
