*Argentina’s tourism sector has expressed “great concern” over the impact of ongoing strike action in the aviation industry. Six tourism industry associations released a statement in which they said that the “untimely and irresponsible measures [of unions] have already produced numerous cancellations, delays and direct impacts on travel plans for thousands of passengers”. The organisations, which include Argentina’s tourism chamber (CAT), the federation of associations of travel and tourism companies (Faevyt), and the association of hotels, restaurants, and cafes (AHRCC), warned that the economic losses resulting from the strike action were “immeasurable” and called for an immediate resolution to the situation. In recent weeks, tensions have been rising between the government led by President Javier Milei and unions representing workers of Argentina’s state-owned carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas, who have been carrying out strikes to demand better pay.
