COLOMBIA: Industry slump mirrors broader economic woes

Colombia’s economy has shown some signs of recovery but overall it continues to disappoint this year, with growth well below its potential. GDP expanded a mere 0.1% in the second quarter and the economic activity index, a proxy for GDP, showed its worst result in nine months in June with a contraction of 1.1%.
