*The Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), the logistics arm of Brazil’s agrarian development ministry, has projected a record grain harvest for the 2024/25 harvest cycle and record meat production figures for 2025. Despite ongoing concerns over adverse climate conditions this year, the next grain harvest is projected to yield 326.9m tonnes (t), which Conab attributes to factors such as an expansion in the total land area for cultivation. Annual rises in production are expected for major Brazilian agricultural exports such as soybeans and maize. Soybean production is projected to total 166.3m t in the 2024/25 cycle, up 12.8% from 2023/24, while maize production is expected to reach 119.8m t, up 3.6% from the previous cycle. A strong grain harvest also benefits the meat industry, given that animal feed is made from soymeal and other processed grain products. Conab projects the total production of poultry, pork, and beef to reach 30.75m t in 2025, largely driven by poultry production, which is expected to total 15.5m t next year.
