*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the country’s services sector, which showed that the volume of services provided was up 1.2% in July compared with June. Compared with July 2023, the volume of services rose by 4.3%. The accumulated services volume in the 12 months until July this year was up 0.9% from the previous 12-month period. Of the five categories of services measured, three registered a monthly rise in volume. Professional, administrative, and complementary services (+4.2%) and information and communication services (+2.2%) saw notable monthly increases, whilst the volume of transport services dropped by 1.5%, which the Ibge suggests was driven by a slump in tourism.
