TRACKING TRENDS

PANAMA | Canal transits back to normal. As of September, Panama Canal daily transits have returned to 36 after the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) reduced the number of slots earlier this year due to drought. The rise in daily ship transits to 36 - a return to normal levels - is up from 35 as of 5 August, an amount which has been steadily increased since transits were reduced to 17 in May. The rise in daily transits follows improvements in water levels due to the rainy season in the Gatún Lake watershed, which feeds the canal.
