*Argentina’s government led by President Javier Milei has announced the simplification of processes for importing steel, aluminium, and other construction materials. In a statement, the government said this had the aim of “encouraging competition and lowering costs”. By modifying the technical regulation of steel, the government states that 31% of steel imports will no longer be subject to customs intervention, resulting in a greater supply and lower costs for key productive sectors. It also announced the digitalisation of the stock replenishment regime (Repostock), a system that allows for the replenishing of the stock of imported products that have been used in industrial exports, which it said would bring tax benefits to over 5,000 companies.
