*Brazil’s labour ministry has released the latest figures from its national employment registry (Novo Caged) which showed a net 188,021 new jobs created in July. This marks a 32.3% increase compared to the net 142,107 new jobs registered in July 2023, but an 8.7% decrease from the net 205,905 new jobs created in June 2024. A total of 2.19m new hires were registered in July this year, up from 2.09m the previous month and from 1.9m in the same month last year. Total dismissals came to around 2m, up from 1.88m in June and from 1.76m in July last year. All five economic sectors measured for the Novo Caged registered annual rises in net job creation in July. The government highlighted in a press release that the industrial sector registered a net 49,471 new jobs, up 30% compared to July 2023.
