*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that the monthly estimate of economic activity (Emae) dropped by 0.3% in June as compared to the previous month and was down 3.9% year-on-year. The yearly decrease was double the 1.9% contraction forecast by analysts surveyed by newswire Reuters. This reverses the positive trend in the Emae seen in May, when economic activity increased by 0.7% in monthly terms and 1.9% year-on-year, breaking a three-month run of monthly contractions and a six-month run of yearly declines. In year-on-year terms, declines were registered in nine sectors including construction (-23.6%), manufacturing industry (-20.4%), and wholesale, retail, & repairs (-18.6%). The largest yearly increase was registered in the agriculture, livestock, hunting & forestry sector (+82.4%).
