*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures showing that the country registered a trade surplus of US$1.58bn in July, up from a deficit of US$700m in July 2023. The country has now obtained a trade surplus for eight consecutive months. According to the latest Indec report, Argentina’s exports totalled US$7.22bn in July, up 19.2% on July 2023, whilst imports totalled US$5.65bn, down 16.5% year-on-year. Brazil was the main destination for Argentinian exports in July, with an export value of US$1.12bn, followed by the US (US$671m), Chile (US$652m), and China (US$468m). Brazil was also the main source of imports, accounting for US$1.12bn, followed by China (US$983m), the US (US$721m), and Paraguay (US$411m).
