*Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum has pledged the creation of 550,000 jobs with the infrastructure works she will begin in her first full year of government in 2025. Speaking in a press conference Sheinbaum said that 400,000 jobs would be created through the construction of at least 100,000 new homes next year, with an estimation that each home will generate four direct jobs. She also said that the construction of new rail projects would create some 150,000 jobs. “That’s not counting private investment, so we’re talking about 550,000 additional jobs next year,” she said.
