*Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has announced that the country’s GDP grew by 2.1% in the second quarter of 2024, compared with the same period last year. Compared with the preceding quarter, GDP growth in Q2 was 0.1%, while accumulated GDP growth over the first six months of this year was 1.5%. Dane said that the year-on-year growth in Q2 was driven by a 1.6% increase in consumption, a 1.7% increase in gross fixed capital formation, a 4.8% increase in exports, and a 2.2% increase in imports. The sector which contributed most to this growth was agriculture, hunting, forestry & fishing, which expanded by 10.2% year-on-year in Q2.
