*Venezuela’s central bank (BCV) has released its latest inflation figures, putting monthly inflation in July at 0.7%. According to the BCV, this was the lowest figure for any month since current records began in 2008, and was down from 1.0% in June, 1.5% in May, and 2.0% in April. The BCV does not publish annual inflation figures. The official figure contrasted with a 6 August estimate by the independent economic think tank Observatorio Venezolano de Finanzas (OVF), which put monthly inflation in July at 4%. This, according to the OVF, brought annual inflation to 62%.
