*The Confederação Nacional da Indústria (CNI), a lobby group for Brazil’s industrial sector, has released its latest monthly report which showed growth in the manufacturing sector in June. The sector’s revenue in June rose 6.3% in monthly terms and 1.8% in yearly terms. This contrasts with the monthly drop in revenue of 4.8% in May. The accumulated revenue in January-June 2024 was up 1.4% from the first half of last year. In a press release, the CNI attributed the monthly rise in revenue in June to factors such as the resumption of factory operations in Rio Grande do Sul state, the economy of which was devastated by severe flooding in May, and the end of workers’ strikes in the automative sector.
