COSTA RICA/REGION: Venezuelan opposition leaders offered asylum
On 30 July the Costa Rican foreign minister, Arnoldo André, formally offered political asylum to the presidential candidate of Venezuela’s umbrella opposition coalition Plataforma Unitaria Democrática (PUD), Edmundo González, and the main opposition figurehead María Corina Machado.
