Claudia Sheinbaum has announced that
Zoé Robledo will continue as director general of Mexico’s social security institute (IMSS) when she takes office on 1 October. President
Andrés Manuel López Obrador appointed Robledo to the role in May 2019 and he is currently also in charge of the programme for the transformation of the IMSS-Bienestar healthcare system, which provides free medical services to those without social security. In her announcement, Sheinbaum stated that Robledo had been chosen for the
“great job” he had done as head of the IMSS and also in order
“for us to consolidate” the IMSS Bienestar programme. Sheinbaum also announced that she had appointed
Carlos Augusto Morales López as her private secretary.
