Introduction

In late May Honduras’ government declared a climate emergency, aimed at defending protected areas and water production zones. Government efforts to address the environmental crisis (Honduras is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world in relation to the impacts of climate change) nonetheless comes as institutions like the Organization of American States (OAS) continue to highlight the dangers facing activists seeking to protect the environment, as the first piece in the July 2024 edition of the Latin American Regional Report: Caribbean & Central America considers.
