*Paraguay and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed agreements focusing on food security, transportation, and infrastructure development. During a press conference, Paraguay's Foreign Minister
Rubén Ramírez Lezcano highlighted the progress made in these areas following a meeting between Paraguay’s President
Santiago Peña and UAE's Minister for International Cooperation
Reem Al Hashimy in Paraguay. The agreements include mechanisms for cooperation in sanitary, phytosanitary, and market access issues, as well as studies for the modernization, operations, and financing of the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, which serves Paraguay’s capital Asunción. Additionally, UAE is interested in financing a section of the Bioceanic Corridor, which will connect Brazilian ports on the Atlantic to Chilean ports on the Pacific, passing through Paraguay and Argentina. Ramírez also announced that the UAE plans to open an embassy in Asunción by the end of the year.
