In brief: Bad weather forces port closures across Peru

*Peru’s national institute of civil defence (Indeci) has announced the suspension of operations at 62 ports around the country due to large swells which are forecast to continue until 25 July. Indeci also advised fishing fleets to return to shore. Peru’s largest port – Callao, on the outskirts of the capital Lima – is among those affected, as is the northwestern port of Talara, where state oil company Petroperú’s refinery is located.
