MEXICO | Inflation continues upward trend. On 9 July Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) reported that the consumer price index (INPC) increased by 0.38% in June compared to the previous month. This brought the annual inflation rate to 4.98%, up from 4.69% in May, when inflation decreased by 0.19% in monthly terms, and marking the fourth consecutive month of annual increases. Annual inflation is now at its highest level this year, above January’s rate of 4.88%. The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile items, rose by 0.22% in monthly terms and 4.13% in yearly terms.
