Chile is in some ways perfectly placed to benefit from the global trend to swap fossil fuels for more sustainable alternative energies. The country is the world’s leading producer of copper and second supplier of lithium, both needed for the batteries used in electric vehicles (EV) and in solar energy storage. It also has huge potential to generate green hydrogen, sought after by heavy industries and transportation companies as an emissions-free alternative.
