In brief: Argentina’s external debt rises

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published new figures which show that the country’s external debt totalled US$289.97bn in the first quarter of 2024, up US$2.16bn on the previous quarter. Indec said that the rise was mainly caused by an increase of US$2.37bn in the debt of non-financial corporations, households, and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs).
