*The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced plans to increase daily ship transits through the Canal to 35 in August. This follows the announcement earlier this month of plans to increase daily transits from 32 to 33 starting 11 July, and to 34 from 22 July, following improvements in water levels due to the rainy season in the Gatún Lake watershed, which feeds the Canal. Additionally, the Canal’s maximum authorised vessel draft will increase to 47 feet today (27 June) up from 46 feet, and to 48 feet from 11 July.
