MEXICO: Prospects for economy in the long term remain gloomy

Although Mexico’s economy has enjoyed enviable stability since recovering from the Tequila crisis in the mid-1990s, the pace of growth has remained relatively disappointing. Since 2000, GDP has grown at an average of 1.7% per year – less than half its average of 3.6% over the previous 25 years.
