PARAGUAY: Brazil sweetens deal on Itaipú
After lengthy negotiations, Brazil and Paraguay have reached an agreement on the price and distribution of electricity generated by the binational Itaipú hydroelectric complex. The move will generate more income for Paraguay and paves the way for a broader renegotiation of the so-called Annex C of the original accord of 1973, which regulates how much energy each side can sell to whom.
