MEXICO | Steel sector strike continues. Mexico’s national iron and steel chamber (Canacero) issued a statement on 17 June stating that a strike at facilities run by steel producer ArcelorMittal in Michoacán state was “deeply impacting the economic development of the region”. The strike action began at the end of May, with workers affiliated with the mining union (SNTMMSSRM) protesting over the annual profit distribution to employees that the company had decided for 2023.
