*The administrator of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), Ricaurte Vásquez, has said that despite the fact that has been some rain, “the problem has not been resolved” – in reference to the water crisis currently facing the country as a result of drought. His comments were made at an event held in Coclé province and come despite the announcement last week of plans to increase daily ship transits through the Canal from 32 to 33 starting 11 July, and to 34 from 22 July, following improvements in water levels due to the rainy season in the Gatún Lake watershed, which feeds the Canal.
