*Mexico’s agriculture & rural development ministry (Sader) has revealed that the economic value of the country’s agricultural, livestock, and fisheries production in 2023 totalled M$1.55trn (US$83.6bn) in 2023, 1.6% up on the previous year. The volume of production equalled 299m tonnes (t), almost the same as the previous year, despite the drought affecting most of the country. According to Sader, the livestock sector saw favourable conditions that drove the production of cow’s milk, poultry meat, and eggs. Milk production increased by 228m litres while production of poultry meat and eggs were up 106,000 t and 70,000 t respectively. National livestock production totalled 25.1m t at the end of 2023, 2% higher compared than the volume produced in 2022. The volume of production in the fishing sector was around than 1.98m t, 0.7% less than the previous year.
