*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for the services sector, showing a monthly growth of 0.5% in April, the second consecutive month of growth. The volume of services provided in April registered a 5.6% increase compared to the same month last year, and the accumulated services volume in the 12 months to April 2024 was up 1.6% from the previous 12-month period. Of the five categories of services measured, three registered monthly growth in April, with transport and postal services (+1.7%) and other services (+5.0%) registering the greatest monthly increases. In a press release, the Ibge pointed out that a rise in air travel was the main driver of growth in the transport category, while the other services category was mainly driven by an increase in auxiliary activities to financial services.
