*Peru’s central bank (BCRP) has announced that mining production in the first quarter of 2024 was up by 8.8% compared with the same period in 2023. There was a year-on-year increase in the production of all metals measured by the BCRP – copper (+4.4%), gold (+22.1%), zinc (+4.7%), molybdenum (+26.2%), silver (+9.3%), iron (+6.1%), lead (+13.4%), and tin (+279.9%). The large increase in tin production was due to the resolution of social conflicts which had paralysed the sector in 2023.
