*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC), showing that annual inflation stood at 4.1% in May, up from 4.0% in April, driven by higher transportation and apparel costs. This rise aligns with market expectations. On a monthly basis, inflation increased by 0.3%, down from monthly inflation of 0.5% in April. Of the 13 categories measured in the IPC, 12 registered monthly increases, with the most significant in the transport category (+0.6%) and clothing & footwear (+1.9%). Housing & basic services was the only category to see a decline (-0.3%).
