*Puerto Coronel, the port company which operates the eponymous major port in Coronel municipality, in Chile's Biobío region, has announced the end of strike action by its workers. In a statement, the company said that operations would resume today (22 May). The company said it “sincerely” thanked all its clients “who were waiting for the evolution of the situation in the port and supported us constantly”. Puerto Coronel also thanked the transport ministry; on 14 May the company asked the government led by President Gabriel Boric for help mediating with the workers, who went on strike at the end of March over various grievances, including threats to job security. Transport Minister Juan Carlos Muñoz told the local press that both Puerto Coronel and its workers have agreed to “relax some of their positions” in order to reach an agreement and resume operations at the port.
