In brief: Mexico’s growth forecast edges up in April

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest preliminary indicator of economic activity (IOAE), which estimates that productive activity in April was up 1.7% in yearly terms and 0.1% as compared to the previous month. Inegi estimates an annual increase of 1.6% in activities in the secondary sector (manufacturing) and 2.2% in the tertiary sector (services). Inegi reported no variation in secondary and tertiary activities as compared to March. This compares with IOAE estimates of a 0.2% monthly contraction and 2.4% annual growth in March.
